The origin of Pickle People does not begin with pickleball. The lore of "pickle people" dates back to elementary school. A time, when we all would daydream and act out herculean adventures.

The Pickle Notebook

When I was a little kid, I sort of did this thing, for some reason, I don’t know why, I’d kind of sit around all day and draw pictures of pickles. Like a pickle that looked like an astronaut, cowboy, or hot dog salesman. I wrote stories to accompany the drawings and their different pickle universes. I couldn’t touch my pen to the paper without drawing our writing about pickles.

Today, I still write creativity about pickle adventures but with age, I've weaved in lessons about those adventures. The stories emphasize the importance of family, community, friendship, giving people the benefit of the doubt, and not defining success in one way.

Unlike any pickleball brand, Pickle People tells heartfelt and whimsical adventures of pickle people, like Surfer Pickle, Hula-Dancer Pickle, Randy Relish, and the Brine Brothers. Our products showcase this part of our history.

Playing Pickleball

Fast forward 18 years from my pickle notebook, and I've been playing for several years. I played for the first time with my college roommate at open-play in Santa Monica. Despite the busy and overcast Tuesday night, the park was packed– 48 people simultaneously playing across six courts while another 100 or so people waited. Still, I was hooked, and I play 3-4 times a week now. In addition to working out and playing a sport, the pickleball community is on another-level welcoming, which may be why it is the number one sport in the world!

What Pickleball Means to Us

We realized that like the stories, pickleball is about inclusivity, friendship, community, and whimsy. Like Pickle People, we live in various worlds and communities. We all face exciting, yet unfamiliar challenges. In doing so, we have to do right by our fellow pickles.
